Last year’s “imPROMptu” thrown by the class of 2020 as an alternative to the annual prom that was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Seniors, instead of having a traditional prom this year, there will be a “Senior Dinner” on Saturday, April 17th. This event will be held on Punahou campus due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Senior Dinner committee has been planning since the end of winter vacation in order to make this event possible. After multiple class surveys, it was decided that any great Class of 2021 event could not happen without good food and the opportunity to dress up. The committee has not failed in regards to these hopes.

The catering for the event will be done by Punahou alumnus Michelle Karr-Ueoka’s restaurant, MW. The food prepared for dinner will have a special surprise in relation to the theme for this event: “A Wish Upon A Star.”

Seniors will also have the opportunity to take individual photos in the Senior Boat at the beginning of the event. After everyone’s photos are taken, they will be edited in such a way that the final image will show the entire Class of 2021 standing together in the boat!

In addition, to satisfy any seniors who value music at an event, there will be a DJ playing music throughout the duration of the event and opportunities for dancing.

Earlier, the Class of 2021 deans briefly mentioned the committee’s plans for a “Memory Lane,” and indeed, at the Dinner, seniors will be able to walk through the Memory Lane and experience the nostalgia that comes with it.

To clear up any confusion, during the event, seniors will have some time to reconnect with their advisors and advisory classmates, and also have a lot of time to be with friends. There is also no “dress code” set as there was with Junior Function. Students will be able to wear prom attire as well as function attire if they desire.

Seniors should also look forward to a couple other surprises that the committee has planned out for them.

The Senior Dinner should be a night to remember. We look forward to seeing you there!
